Biography
Craig Forrest joined the Law School in 2001, and teaches torts, maritime law, cultural heritage law and a postgraduate course on thesis design and writing. His current research interest is in international law and the protection of cultural heritage, and has published on this subject in a number of journals, including International and Comparative Law Quarterly, University of New South Wales Law Journal, Lloyd's Maritime and Commercial Law Quarterly, Ocean Development and International Law and Marine Policy. He was a member of the South African delegation to the UNESCO meeting of experts to draft the international convention on the protection of underwater cultural heritage and was a Research Fellow at the McDonald Institute, University of Cambridge in 2005.
Before joining the Law School, he served as a naval officer in the South African Navy, worked as a research assistant at Kings College, London and lectured at the Universities of Wolverhampton, Teesside and Holborn College, London.
