Biography
Peter Billings obtained an LLB(Hons) and PhD from the University of Southampton. He joined the TC Beirne School of Law in November 2007 having taught law previously at the University of Southampton and University of the West of England, Bristol. His primary research interests are in the areas of public law, the law relating to refugees, social welfare and indigenous rights. He has published over a dozen journal articles in these areas. He has recently completed an article on the Northern Territory National Emergency Response (forthcoming in (2009) 33(1) MULR) and an article on social welfare reform trials in Australia (forthcoming 2010) and commenced a project on rights protection in Queensland. He is a Director of the UQ Pro Bono Centre and mentor for the administrative law moot teams who represent UQ in the annual Administrative Appeals Tribunal competition.
