The TC Beirne School of Law at The University of Queensland recently conducted a series of focus groups on postgraduate study. As a result of the points raised by the focus groups, the School is conducting a survey with a wider audience to ascertain the importance of postgraduate study in law and the factors that contribute to the decision to undertake postgraduate study. Myths and realities of human trafficking revealed
UQ researchers will reveal the myths and realities of human trafficking in Australia at a public forum on September 22. Presented as part of UQ’s Research Week, the public forum will present the preliminary findings of the research being carried out by the Human Trafficking Working Group at the TC Beirne School of Law. The public forum will be held in room 234 of the Parnell Building (Building number 7) at The University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus from 5.00pm to 6.30pm on Monday 22 September 2008. UQ Law Graduates celebrated with The Hon. Ian Callinan AC QC
UQ Law School graduates and friends enjoyed a stimulating evening with The Honourable Ian Callinan AC QC, former Justice of the High Court of Australia, on 28th August at the UQ Art Gallery. The Hon. Ian Callinan shared his life experiences while Mr Julian Leeser, a former associate, entertained guests with tales of his experience working with the former Judge. The evening also featured the launch of the special issue of The University of Queensland Law Journal titled "Essays in Honour of Ian Callinan". More...
Law School welcomes new staff member
This month, Dr Andrew Johnston joins the TC Beirne School of Law as a Senior Lecturer. Dr Johnston comes to us from Cambridge University (Jesus College). His interests lie in company law, corporate governance, law and economics, tort and contract.
2nd Law Student Review now available online
The second issue of the Queensland Law Student Review is now available online. The Review which was launched earlier this year, encourages undergraduate and postgraduate students to publish high-quality, in-depth research on contemporary legal and justice issues. The Review also offers a stepping-stone for students seeking to undertake higher research degrees.
