Judges Schedule Superior Courts - Graduates from the Law School

This Schedule is a compilation of graduates from The University of Queensland who have held judicial office in the Superior Courts. This list represents a 'snapshot' at a particular time and is not currently being updated. It was coordinated by Dr Michael White QC, Convenor of the TC Beirne School of Law Heritage Committee, and compiled with research assistance from Mrs Angela Allen, UQ Law Library, Ms Megan Lyneham, UQ Archives, and especially Mr Aladin Rahemtula and the Queensland Supreme Court library staff in May 2005.

Due to the complexity of listing details, no distinction has been made between acting and confirmed judicial appointments. Only UQ degrees are listed.

Hong Kong Magistrate 1965, Senior Magistrate 1969, President Lands Tribunal 1976, High Court Judge 1979, Justice of Appeal 1987, Acting Chief Justice 28.10.1996 – 30.6.1997. With the establishment of the Court of Final Appeal Power was appointed a Non – Permanent Judge of the Court of Final Appeal. Retired in May 1999. BA 28/04/1955, LLB 30/11/1955.

  1. The judges awarded BA s on 01/06/1911 were awarded them Ad Eundem Gradum based on degrees from elsewhere and to mark the occasion of the founding of The University of Queensland.
