UQ Law Mentor Program

The UQ Law Graduates Association and the TC Beirne School of Law coordinate a mentor program for students in the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) program. Each student who registers is matched with a legal professional who the student can approach for practical advice and guidance about studying and practising law.

 Testimonials

“The UQ Law Mentor Program was great. It provided a real connection between Law School and law as a profession. The Program was an excellent way to receive guidance and advice on everything ranging from career planning to study habits, to all of the little nuances about legal practice that you wouldn't otherwise know about. The Program was particularly beneficial because of the way it links you with a practitioner who is practising in the same area that you are specialising or interested in.

I would definitely recommend the UQ Law Mentor Program to any LLB students. It was especially valuable in my final year because I hadn't applied for graduate positions and my mentor was able to help me out with great advice, suggestions and even work opportunities.”

Rachel LaBlack

“I wanted to speak with an academic about becoming a better student, but I also wanted a friendship with an academic, rather than just asking questions of my teacher. The Mentor Program enabled me to get advice on study, work and paths to take.

I highly recommend the Program to other students.”

Joshua Jones

“My mentor was helpful in relation to guidance and information on firms in Brisbane and applications for graduate positions.

I would recommend this Mentor Program to other students, in particular those that are perhaps a little unsure about the next step after completing their degree.”
