The inaugural edition of the Queensland Law Student Review (QLSR) is to be launched by the TC Beirne School of Law in March, providing UQ students with an entry-point into academic publishing.
The QLSR showcases some of the best research papers written by students at UQ’s TC Beirne School of Law. It publishes original articles in all fields of law. The QLSR is a further initiative to foster analytical research and to contribute to the University’s and the School’s reputation as a leader in critical analysis of contemporary legal and justice issues.
All articles published in the QLSR undergo a rigid and independent review process, similar to that used by other peer-reviewed law journals. The editorial team of the QLSR brings together academic staff, undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Dr Andreas Schloenhardt, Senior Lecturer at the TC Beirne School of Law and one of the QLSR editors says, “this publication offers TC Beirne School of Law students the opportunity to connect with our students and academic readers around the country and overseas through an entry-point into academic publishing. For our students seeking to undertake higher research degrees, the QLSR also acts as an important ‘stepping stone’.”
The QLSR is available electronically online with two issues to be published each year. The first issue, available from 1 March 2008, features articles on a range of contemporary issues including the return of refugees to Iraq, the criminal liability of drug dealers, the passing of risk for sale in contract law, the liability of corporation in international criminal law, and an article on the recent review of the defence of provocation in Queensland.
