Aim:
Examine the application of the Sexual Offenders (Dangerous Prisoners) Act 2003 (Qld) and the corresponding legislation in Western Australia and New South Wales.

Dr Andreas Schloenhardt
Organised Crime Laws in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada
Aim:
The project will explore the framework relating to organised crime under international law, analyse new provisions in New South Wales and Queensland crime laws, and draw comparisons to relevant Canadian and New Zealand laws.
Research Output:
Anticipated outcomes include closer cooperation with relevant justice departments and law enforcement agencies in Australia, New Zealand and Canada, presentations and one or more scholarly articles.

The Need for Reforms in the Management of Indigenous Cultural Heritage in Australian Lands
Aim:
To evaluate the various legal regimes currently operating in Australia for the protection and recognition of Indigenous cultural heritage in land.

Endemic Revolution: HLA Hart, Custom and Constitution of the Fiji Islands
Aim:
The project will assess the theories of HLA Hart in respect to the current political and social climate in Fiji taking into account views from the broad spectrum of Fijian life, Judiciary, parliament, military and the Great Council of Chiefs as well as other social and religious groups.

Law of Politics – Current Issues
Aim:
There are four issues being research under this topic;
- An analysis of Justice Kirby’s contribution to the law affecting political systems.
- A comparative law and reform project on the issue of voting access by disabled people.
- The regulation of government communications and political broadcasting.
- The linking of labour law and the law of politics, analysing the doctrinal and practical effect of ‘WorkChoices’ mandating secret ballots for trade unions.
