Each year, the School hosts a number of high–profile lecture and seminar events engaging leading visiting scholars, practitioners and members of the judiciary from Queensland, Australia and other parts of the world.   • Current Legal Issues Seminar Series

    A new, high–profile series of seminars on contemporary legal issues, commencing in 2009. The series aims to bring together leading scholars, practitioners and members of the Judiciary in Queensland, other Australian jurisdictions and abroad.

  • The McPherson Lecture Series

    A series of 3 annual public lectures given by leading academic and judicial figures, initiated in 2006, in honour of the Honourable Dr Bruce McPherson.

  • The TC Beirne Law School Research Seminar Series

    This series provides a showcase for the legal research of members of the Law School and visiting scholars from other universities, countries and disciplines.

  • The Richard Cooper Memorial Lecture Series

    A series of lectures dedicated to the late Justice Richard Cooper of the Federal Court of Australia and to his particular interests in the fields of maritime and native title law.

  • The TC Beirne Informal Working Paper Seminar Series

    This is an informal series of papers, internal to the Law School, providing an opportunity for scholars to exchange ideas with colleagues and receive feedback and support on papers in the preparatory stages of a research project. For further details, please contact the individual presenter.

  • 2009 Fulbright Symposium

    Five years after the signing of the US-Australia Free Trade Agreement and following changes of government in both countries, the trade relationship between the United States and Australia was ripe for reassessment. The 2009 Fulbright Symposium brought together academics, policy-makers, industry leaders and commentators to review the economic and political impact of the agreement and to consider the future of the trade and political relationships between the two countries.
