There are approximately 1800 students enrolled at the Law School, with around 1000 pursuing the Bachelor of Laws, often in conjunction with Arts, Science, Commerce, Economics and other dual programs. There are also approximately 500 postgraduate students, including 230 enrolled in the Juris Doctor program. The Law School attracts students from all over the world, including Canada, France, Germany, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, the Peoples Republic of China, Singapore, Sweden, the United States of America and, of course, Australia.
Student Representation
Law students are well served by two representative bodies: The University of Queensland Law Society (UQLS) and the Justice and the Law Society (JATL). These societies perform educational, social and representative functions. Moreover, they promote linkages with professional associations and groups and are responsible for a variety of publications.
Student Services
UQ offers exceptional services to its students including assistance in the areas of careers counseling, personal counseling, learning assistance, equity support, disabilities support, financial assistance and international student support. Students requiring extra help with English can contact the Institute of Continuing & TESOL Education (ICTE-UQ) (CRICOS Provider Number 00091C) which provides training and support to students.
